Service early or possibly too late? |
|
Away skiing at half term and have worked out I'll pass 15,000 miles as I board the Eurotunnel for the return journey. Taking into account the return to Dorset and then the jaunt up to Crawley and back the following week, that sees me at 15,600miles by the time I can get the car to Yeovil on the following weekend, 100 miles over the warranty allowance of 500miles.
So that means I either get it serviced at Yeovil the week before at 13,000 miles (and lose half a day on Saturday doing it) or I throw myself on the tender mercies of Guy Salmon Crawley at 13,300 miles on the day before my holiday.
Digging through the site I can only find one reference to this dealership (good service, but as a result of a car they had just supplied dying within 20 miles ) so a bit nervous of using them, unless anyone here can convince me otherwise? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

If it were me (I?), I would go and enjoy Yeovil's delights early, and be sure of having
a) a car to take away with me
b) a warranty when I got back
.. and ask Nick about Yandles if you have time to kill...
Good luck choosing,

Ah. Doug has booked it in for the afternoon of Friday 6th
To be honest, with a 1600 mile round trip coming up the early service will be as much to do with peace of mind as anything. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Late opinion, but with that sort of road trip coming up I would have serviced before as well - you wouldn't want to be stuck with a european recovery on something that would have been picked up by a service Craig

Had exactly the same situation (skiing trip too) a couple of years ago on my D2. I took mine into the dealer who did a 'free' health check before I went - this (apparently) would mean my warranty would be OK. I sold the D2 6 months later and then changed dealers so I never tested it.
The did however miss a howlingly obvious fuel leak which caused some alarm with the brown snow under my car on arrival... Drove it home OK, though it did use a lot more fuel!
Sounds like you've got it sorted though 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +
