I have the rubber mats in my LR3, too. However on the passenger side they inch forward a few mm a day...
MacLeod313 just stated that his rubber mat clips tear/rip his carpet. This is the first I've heard of anyone saying that.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Or are people using the rubber mats w/ clips safely without any damage to the carpet?
I just placed an order for (6) rubber mat clips [RR44CLP]. So, I hope I haven't made a mistake.
Please advise.

Actually on the page before I REALLY said
MacLeod313 wrote:I find if you use the retaining clips, which self tap into the D3's carpet and underlay, this in time only tears and rips and unrepairable without replacing the whole interior carpet.
So I dont use them nor have them.

I used the clips on my old TD5 and my wifes FL1 has the screw in type of fixings, both are like a self tapping large plastic screw that burrows into the carpet and rubber/felt underlay. Eventually both of my vehicles the carpet started to tear around the fixings whilst trying to hold the rubber mats in place.
On the D3 I did'nt bother cos the OEM rubber mats are so heavy and well profiled I think they need no fixing at all. In 4 years of ownership, they've never moved.
