Oh yea, wasnt thinking properly there...
The light sensor sits in the interior mirror ( i think ), the wiring may or may not already be there.

Been there done that
Done it on a base 5-seater - got the new switch when I fitted fog lamps end of 2005, got the ambient light/rain sensor & dipping mirror towards end of last year - (needed to combine it with getting a replacement windscreen fitted). Found all the wires already in place, but, it didn't work until I had it activated whilst at the stealers. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Yes you'll need to request a screen with rain sensor - this has the blacked out area with a small clear clear area behind the mirror and all the clips that will be needed to connect the new style mirror, sensor unit and sensor housing. Note - the old style mirror does not fit, it has to be the newer one with the auto-dipping function as they use a different shaped connector for connecting onto the screen - the bonus is that I had the wires there for that as well as that too works
Bit strange about the heated screen not working if all the connectors/switches are there, DW. Sounds daft, but I've had to do it to get my heated washer jets to work once or twice - find the relay for the heated screen and remove & the 2x fuses and then re-fit them - failing that I think you need someone with an Autologic box or a trip to the stealers to get them activated LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Forget about it, soon you will have to keep your lights on at all time. So useless to bother about auto lights. Rather reprogramm the car to switch on the lights automatically on ignition.
The european union will make daytime running lights obligatory in order to incrase co emissions
Interesting is if that if you have adaptive lights and daytime lights programmed, the turning will be switched off during day and switched on during night. Some people get by
With a little understanding
Some people get by
With a whole lot more
I dont know
Why you gotta be so undemanding
