It was quoted in todays Times (Money section) as a 40% cheaper alternitive to going to a "fitter" for the whole job..

Changed tyres many times, initially with the LR scissor jack and more recently with a two stage bottle jack. As winger says, go to offroad height first, you'll hear the suspension hiss and fart a bit. the maximum safe extension on the LR jack is about 60mm clear of the ground. Again, as Winger states, jack on the chassis legs - not the suspension wishbones.
Once completed you'll find a welcoming message along the lines of 'reset suspension height once clear of obstacle' two rearward presses of the suspension paddle will have you back at normal height and off you go! Wink

Fortunately to date I have not had a puncture. Not liking the look of the jack supplied I carry a 2 tonne trolley jack, however reading this thread I am now not sure if it has sufficient height to use in the normal jacking points. It seems you cannot just place the jack under a convenient part of the suspension and jack up, I assume in case the compressor (farts) and causes the suspension to lower during wheel changing.

Any views on using alternative jacks as I do not like the look of the supplied jack.

IR1,
I have one of these http://www.paintain.co.uk/Automo/garg_eqp/gleqp120.htm I need to fabricate an adaptor to locate in the jacking points but it is more than capable of lifting the Disco3 and has enough capacity left for uneven ground
