07 HSE, squealed like a porker back in July, ''fixed '' by Stratstones for 2-300 miles, back to porkersville again. Dealership reckon EPB not a problem!- needed new front and rear pads,
Just had new tyres and front and rear pads fitted by local LR garage, as Stratstones were £400+ DEARER, they said don't use EPB, just park position, and will be fine on the steepest of inclines,BUT we have a drive on a really step incline! , and at a Landrover Experience Day, instructor said DO NOT LEAVE on P posn, as held on a pin the size of a little finger, SO do I use epb AND WAIT FOR THE SQUEAL AGAIN OR GO FOR BROKE, USE P POSITION AND HOPE NO DISCO IN THE KITCHEN IN THE MORNING!

Use the EPB!!! It's what the darn thing is for!
If the EPB fails, send it back to be repaired under the warranty you've paid for. Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!

Try disengaging from P under load, eventually the shift lever mech will bend if nothing else as it is NOT designed for continual use under load.... Cheers

You will definitely do expensive damage to the gearbox if you continue to leave it on steep inclines in Park. Have you not noticed how hard you sometimes have to pull the lever to get it out of park when it is left under load on a hill?
Correct way to park an automatic (sorry to those who know this, but you'd be surprised how many people don't):
Foot brake on, box into neutral, handbrake on, foot brake off (lets the car settle), then box into park. This way, the car is held by the handbrake, not the gearbox. Park on an autobox is not an alternative or quick handbrake, it is merely a safe position to leave an automatic car in.
The only thing that should be used as the handbrake is, erm, the handbrake. If it's knackered (and unfortunately it probably is), get it fixed - it's the only solution in the long term if you want to avoid costly problems with the auto box.
