Clutch issues again, clutchlasted 300 miles must be a record

Had new clutch fitted three weeks/ 350 miles ago. All seemed fine until tonight. Did a 25 mile journey at a steady 50mph. No traffic, lights or hold ups, just a straight drive, last mile at about 30 mph due to speed limit through town. Pulled ontodrive to a strange but familure smell, burning clutch. Got out and lifted bonnet to be greated with a small cloud of smoke Big Cry Phoned LRA arranged for vehicle to be checked and taken away. Recovery driver said clutch appears to be Censored ed, pedal bight point right at top, very strong smell to the point he would not even try to drive it onto break down truck.
Enterprise were asked to supply a car, they called back and asked me to drive 40 miles to pick it up Evil or Very Mad My reply was polite but to the point. Eventually they delivered it four and a half hours latter and informed me that they have been instructed by their managment to try to get customers to come and collect their loan car even thogh LR are paying them to deliver it, BE WARE. I will be talking to LR customer service tomorrow about this and making them aware.
Has anybody any thoughts on the clutch, the new one fitted three weeks ago was done by Barretts in Ashford.

Would have expected masses of clutch slip to generate the heat and smoke - did you get slip while driving?? Sounds like they may have fitted a new friction plate with the old/weak pressure plate maybe???
 Cheers

I was looking at a D3 manual on ebay before I got my auto and got into conversation with the seller. He'd had two clutches fitted and had numerous problems until they replaced the flywheel. Apparently LR had received a bad batch. Worth a try asking to have the flywheel checked for distortion.

I've a mate who works at the LRE and he says on the D3 they go through clutches, EPB (to the fact they have 6 EPB mechanisms sat on the shelf in the workshop).
350m that's not bad. A mate rebuilt his Cobra a couple of years ago. Went out first time after the rebuild and did a clutch in 7m Shocked Shocked . But that was due to n oil leak when he nipped a seal. Expensive mistake Shocked

Dealer has confirmed today that flywheel was not replaced last time but is being replaced this time. Expensive mistake for LR.
