could be a problem with the 'clock spring' behind the steering wheel, or the switch itself

Have had the same problem, ironically the only problem I have had with my D3 and restarting alway clears. I have found that messing a lot with the cruise control (ie adjusting speeds and turning on and off etc) exaserbates the problem. Now, I only ever use the on/off switch once and don't adjust the speeds. To increase the speed I use the throttle and then reset the cruise. I do this to ensure I don't have to stop the car in order to reset.

What has LR had to say about fixing the problem ? I have heard before that the cruise control tends to hunt a bit more than normal however a faulty one would be pretty annoying (as well as making haveing it a waste of time).

Grey Fergie. My father in law still has one sitting on the farm and it is even in working order.

England

That was one of my faults and it was the slip ring behind the steering wheel.
