Can the six disc stereo (non logic 7) play DVD's with mp3's on them?
Also, if anyone has the land rover rear dvd player, do you like it? I'm thinking about having one installed before I take delivery of my Lr3.
Thanks
Mac

Uh, NO. The 6-disc changer in the stereo is a CD player... not a DVD player.

Mine plays CD MP3s but I wouldn't have thought it would play DVD ones. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

It seems there is some confusion. I'm wondering if a DVD (not a CD) disc with MP3's on it will play in the six disc (non logic 7) stereo. I know it doesn't say it does in the brochures, but I'm asking because it seems there are things about this car that people are discovering that wasn't put in the brochure.
So, can anyone with the six disc (non logic 7) setup test a DVD disc with MP3s on it to find out for sure?
Thanks again,
Mac

Sorry, no manufacturer will have an in-dash 6-disc DVD changer in the stereo head unit instead of a CD changer as a "hidden feature." That would be an incredible waste of money. (I can't even imagine navigating a DVD full of MP3 files when the head unit doesn't display any ID3v2 tags (Title, Artist, Album, etc.) or filenames!)
Heck, the Disco 3/LR3 doesn't even have a factory fitted integrated DVD video playback option... just a single-disc all-in-one roof mount DVD player.
Anyway, I popped in both a DVD-ROM with MP3 content and a DVD Video disc... just for you. Sorry. Error. Not even on the "Premium" stereo.

CD's and DVD's have a different laser wavelength, no amount of software hacking will make one work with the other unless the hardware will support it

TFC is quite right about the wavelengths - A dvd drive laser is generally capable of reading a cd disc - but a cd drive laser is not capable of reading a dvd disc. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
