Silverton Colorado trip

Yeah I know, long time no here. Most of my adventures lately have been in the D1, but I did take the D3 this past week to the trails around Silverton Colorado... 5 days of 40-60 miles.

here's the Land Rover p0rn- http://www.pbase.com/freeflytim/silverton

Tim - Superb location and photography - very well done!

I'm sure that LR NA should be interested in some photos for promotional reasons. They are mad if they don't!

Oh no.. they probably would hate these pix!!!

Front shows non LR driving lights mounted on a busted and crooked brush guard and windscreen tint, the sides show oversized aftermarket tyres (HSE on SE rims) and busted front left mud flap and the back shows custom fabbed antenna mount. Very Happy Very Happy

I don't think they would be too fussy if it showed their main product in good light!

Great photos BTW.

I'd like to be able to say that my trip yesterday (London, Bedford, Saffron Walden, London) was just as much fun...

Like I said, "I'd like to be able to say..." Wink

Anyway, it was still a good round trip...

Great pics BTW...

After looking at the wonderful shots, I now know why I SHOULD have hired a 4x4 for our Colorado trip in a few weeks and not the four door saloon. Mad
I think Alamo are going to be getting a few e.mails and I must look-up Silverton.

I wonder if Alamo do Rock Damage Waiver

Just had a look at thier site and D3/LR3 seems to be missing. All they have is a Chevrolet TrailBlazer SUV.!!!!!!
O.K. the search is on.

When I was in the USA last year, Hertz had LR3, but would only let you rent if you were dropping it back at the same place. I ended up with a Ford Explorer 4.0 V6, and to be honest it was comfortable and roomy.

I did not test its off road abilities too much, but it was OK and I reckon it would be better than a 4 door sedan on the trails!

Thuroughly enjoyed those photos. Was amazed because a group of Southern California Rover owners just treked those exact same trails. Must have missed each other by a few days. Here are their photos:

Tim, i would love to know more about your CB antenna setup. I am going to Moab for the national rally and CB's are required. At present, I do not have an antenna nor have I devised a way to mount one.

Also, it appeared that you were really aired down (tires), what tires were you running, and at what pressures?

Great photos, thanks for taking the time to process and post them.

Regards,

I aired down to about 20psi.. mainly for ride comfort.. lol

PM your email and Ill shoot you some pics of the mount.. my local indy Rover shop absolutely loves doing custom stuff like it and it is perfect. The CB is the hand-held Cobra unit with the brain box mounted under the driver seat and powered by the leads going to the rear cig lighter.
