Anyone out there had to replace door locks/ignition barrel?
Following a recent burglary when some kind person, amongst other things took the spare key to my Disco3. Have investigated the cost to change the locks and have been quoted from £470.00 to £540.00 so far. Good old Admiral Car Insurance will only give £100.00 as a token gesture even though I have so called fully comprehensive insurance !!!!!!
Anyone out there know a cheaper way of getting them changed, bearing in mind don't want to mess up the warrenty.

Simple
Don't tell the insurers about the keys - then the car will be nicked, and instead of £450 they will have to pay £20000!
Easy!

Here is a post i made about keys and any worrys you have.
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic27200.html?highlight=lost+key
Yes the stolen key will open the car from the emergency lock but it wont start it after a new key is fitted along with your existing key.
If your worried about it now, you can have LR or anyone with there diag tools to go into the key menu as if adding a new key, BUT your not realy add one but re add your only existing key , this will illiminate the old stolen key from working and starting the car.
Hope that makes sence
PS keys are about 90quid from the dealer, orderd to the chassis number of the car. 5-10 day order.
Regards Pete

Therefore as already said, key will open lock (not remote) and alarm will then sound. Do the alarm mod for added noise.
TBH I would do that and investigate house insurance, I'm sure it offers more cover in this situation. Certainly enough to cover deal erasing old key and supplying new key
Sorry to hear about the burglary. Police will probably be along next week to investigate "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
