Scratches and Bramble Rash |
|
Now I know why I never had a black D3 before
One day off-roading and there are some seriously nasty scratches all down the side of the new toy, cut back anything I saw overhanging too so it can't have been much of a branch that touched as I'd have avoided it. Anyway it will no doubt get an awful lot more added over the next few months so no plans to do anything about it just now.
The question really is can they be removed by machine polishing/detailing when I come round to selling it on or will I need to get the worst ones painted. They are quite deep and can be felt with the finger nail test. 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

CFB, I wouldn't worry too much, you'll change the motor before too long any ways LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

If they fail the finger nail test I found that even machine polishing them won't hide them permanently and that's on Silver. Black will probably be more difficult to polish out LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Simple answer is yes. With deeper ones, they may not be removed, but the edges will be rounded so they do not attract the eye to them. For those deeper ones, if you only wish it to look good for selling you can use a filler polish and seal this in, which will 'hide' scratches for a couple of months until the sealant wears off. By thats time you'll be back in a Zermatt

Stuff like Autoglym Super resin polish has fillers in it, which mask them to some degree, but if they are too deep the may still show but with a machine polish as JKP says rounded edges will deflect the light better
I looked at the protec protection magnets to prevent bramble rash, but thought they was really expensive, so i am looking at making my own

Whear the bramble rash with pride.
