Daft question about LR dealerships |
|
Just wondered if anyone can offer unbiased views (or biased) about the following dealerships.....sale, aftersales and service etc
Stratstone Newcastle
Farnell Guiseley
Sturgess Leicester
They all have ex demos available......just wondering if I should avoid any before I start to negotiate a deal.....

Not dealt with the sales team at Stratstone Newcastle but from a service POV i would personally avoid them - expensive and not happy with the service.
Just my POV mind

I bought my D3 from Newcastle (back when it was Rossleigh) and had a good experience. They went to a lot of effort to find a new D3 to my spec so I didn't have to wait for one to be built, and had me on the road four days after walking into the showroom. Mind you, I was like a kid in a sweetshop, so I was probably a pretty easy customer to please. I moved away from the area soon after, so have never dealt with them for after sales / warranty / service.

Bought mine from Sturgess in April. The salesman I dealt with, Lee Blaber, was excellent - nothing was too much trouble. Their prices at the time were excellent and the trade in for my old one was more than fair. I would have no hesitation in recommending them. As I don't live locally I can't comment on servicing etc. but for sales ALTERNATIVES...............No alternatives for off-road capability.
If you want Surrey plush, go for a Range Rover. If you want Manchester bling it's the Range Rover Sport. But if it's a seven-seat, go anywhere 4x4, it's time to Disco.

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep watching the LR approved vehicle lists, just missed a black XS at Sturgess..b******r ....so may have to see how other sales folk react to 'silly offers'....the worse they can say is no!!
Have to recommend Ripon LR.....explained what I was looking for and they gave me a loan GS for a day.....no hassle re insurance etc so suspect they'll be getting the servicing if (when) I get a D3

I got mine from Sturgess and have had it serviced there as well. Excellent all round, were the best prices at the time and nothing has been too much trouble. 11 HSE Santorini Black

Just want add to add my pennys worth, bought my d3 from Farnells back in 2006,firstly sold me car which i was assured had done 4k it arrived with 8k and then had to have 2 valets to remove the tar from the arches,Also got told after 4 years i could hand the car back now have found the minimum value is not really a minimum value but a final payment that I ahve to pay, I can't just hand the car back.Lastly I had the screeching brake problem took the car back under warranty they agreed to repair but wanted to charge me for a known fault by saying the brakes needed a £225.00 clean...told them to where to stick it like.Yes I should have been more on the ball but same time I would expect more from a main dealer.I certainly would'nt recommend them the best in west yorkshire seem to be the guy salmon guys at Wakefield.Good luck javed D3 Base, 19inchFFRR WHEELS,SATNAV,PARROT KIT,CHROME WING MIRRORSI, AUTOLOGIC REMAP AND a FAT CHOC LAB IN THE BACK.

Got my MY06 D3 base from Farnells Guiseley in Sept. Got almost £4k knocked off original forecourt price and top dollar for my MY51 Freebie P/X as well as Co-op Divi. They also did me a dog guard and boot mat at what I could pick them up for on Flea Bay so no complaints so far. Not sure I'll use them for service even though they've just dropped their prices as its too far from home. Going to try Four Plus 4 as its just round the corner from work. I don't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member...........

Just got the letter from Farnells about drop in pricing, I've noticed they have new service manager, also a new Sales manager as well so things might change.I've not used 4 plus but I have used Oval Green in leeds they use genuine LR parts my 45k service was £100 plus VAT Brian and his team are all ex LR trained and the Guy Salmonss garage still use hime for certain jobs if you need a number etc Pm me I have it somewhere. Thanks for all the replies. Have now sourced an O8 XS with spec I was looking for but not from any of the dealers listed on here. All were helpful although I would probably rank them as Farnells (best coffee), Sturgess (helpful re finding a vehicle) and Stratstones (took ages to get a price!)........now the questions will really start as I get used to the move from D1 to D3
What's that about 'permagrin'................

Thanks Dunc
Drives like a dream and the old D1 has not ended up in a salvage yard but has gone to a friendly home to receive some TLC (and a few body panels!) so maybe has a few more years life in her.
Going to have a crawal about under the D3 this weekend..tow bar to clip in...and find out where all the waxoyl will be going ......
