Metalic rattle from rear end + Land Rover assist.

Developed a horrible rattle from the rear end.

Call to LR assist 20 mins later they arrive (top work)

Quick test drive.... possible driveshaft problem???

Car now with dealer.

Slight problem with arranging a loan car but eventually sorted out. (thanks to Pete from LR assist and the guys from Croydon) Pete in the mean time took customer service to a new leval, he picked my mum up got her to the hospital ferried me about whilst waiting for the loan disco, top bloke.

Then the dealer rings cant replicate the fault!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shocked Big Cry

Back to the dealer,,, test drive it with them....nothing Big Cry ....then.........YES it makes the horrible noise Very Happy

So its with them for diagnosis.

I would like to thank LR assist for the splendid help today.........anyone know their email address????

Sad to hear it let you down so soon. Hopefully it will be sorted PDQ.

BTW, I once had a real horrible mettalic clattering from under the back, it turned out to be the heatshield from the exhaust had come loose and was rubbing on the propshaft. I was convinced it was the diff for at least 10 minutes Shocked

Gareth that was my thought, heatshield, but LR assist seem to think differently

It sounds like a thin bit of metal knocking on a moving bit of metal if you get what Im saying.

When I find out Ill let you all know.

Have to say that both experiences I have had with LRA have been fantastic (both minor issue's to be fair to the car), the guy in the Hampshire area (which is the only experience I have) is very friendly and knows a lot about the D3's as well.

Sounds like it is getting sorted.

LRA is a top service. I've called them a few times over the last three years and they are always here within 20 minutes. My local LRA tech lives less than 5 miles away.

Compare that to Renault assist. The wifes scenic has developed a fault with the heater blower, happened two weeks ago. Called Renault, they punt me onto Renault assist, they refuse to come out and have to book the car into the dealers. First appointment 4th of November, 3 weeks without a means of heating or clearing the front screen. Shocking. No matter how much I jumped up and down, they are not interested.

LRA service Thumbs Up

Propshaft Shocked Not heard of one of those getting changed before. Well, not reported on the forum anyway. Dealers may know more?

Pete from LR assist was quite sure when he heard the noise what it was..in fact it took him about 200 yards ...maybe he has seen a few? does he appear on here?

I asked the dealer if it was a common fault they dont reacall changing one before.

It was a very distinctive noise.

Dave, was it a very slight metal on metal rubbing noise that dies not change in pitch and is drowned out by road noise at around 30-40 MPH ??

Or did it start like that and then progress to the louder rattle you mentioned ?

Some time after I called out LRA I received a Q&A sheet in the post - no doubt you'll get one of those upon which you can comment on their service
