The alarm on my vehicle when set off is very quiet, as in I could be stood at the back of the car and not realise it's the alarm on my car, apart from the lights flashing. My dealer says this is normal for the Disco 3, and it's a know issue. Does anybody else have this issue?

leigh,
I've got the same model as you. What's the easiest way to set it off. I'll let you know.

The easiest way to set the alarm off is to lock the doors with a window open, after around 30-40 seconds the ultrasonics start working, just wave your arm in through the open window. Hopefully you can hear it.

this is the same on mine, very quiet, if I recall correctly there are some earlier threads about this subject and it seems to be a common problem, and I think it was suggested that the sound insultation in the engine compartment is working against it

leigh,
Did as you said and set it off. Standing next to it I didn't think it was very loud. But several neighbours came out. So is it louder from a distance?

Thanks for that, at least I know my dealer wasn't trying to fob me off by saying they're all quiet.

Left field post, but do we know of any D3's having been broken into yet ? ( as opposed to the usual trick of pinching the keys etc ) ..............Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

Mine was very nearly stolen last April, the burgler got the keys, but they failed to start it. The police reckon that they put it in reverse before turning the key, its an auto so the starter is inhibited except in P, this would also have set the PDC beeping as it was against a wall and the park brake was off. Police say that the beeps and the fact it would not go first time is enough to spook them and make them leave it. They took my other car instead
