Want to remove Rear Light Clusters! |
|
As above,
want to remove the rear lights so as i can change some bulbs. Only brake light working is the high brake light on tail gate so suspect the bulbs are blow in the two sides. Iv seen the users manual and took out the 2 screws last nite but the lights didn seem to want to come out, and doesnt appear to be anything else holding them in from the back. any body any suggestions, was trying not to use too much force for fear of breaking them! Cheers guys. 07 Discovery 3 TDV6 Commercial (Java Black) with:

They are a pretty tight fit. A rubber/plastic fish slice/spatula will give you the leverage if you can't get your fingertips to grip on the edge.
Oh, and try and move the light equally from both sides. If you try and pull one side only they get really stubborn. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

remove screws and pull back
Some say a plastic tool between the light and the bodywork helps just be careful

gents. ill give that a go tomorrow if it decides to stop raining!
just to note, when i switch on the front lights the lights at back light up including the the brake one's. its just that the brake one's dont illuminate when i press brake pedal if you get my meaning. so i asked fitter at work and he reckoned it was the bulbs so gonna try that. any other possibilites!! 07 Discovery 3 TDV6 Commercial (Java Black) with:

Just sounds like your bulbs need changing
EDIT Just to point out that all FOUR rear bulbs will light up when you switch the lights on, the top two will light up brighter when you press the brake pedal (unless you've done the foiur brake light modification that is....) Bodsys Brake Bible

It's because the stop lights are stop and tail dual fillament bulbs ISTR
Mine blew with a regular occurence - so bought some LEDs about 18 months ago - all OK since
Cannot remember exact spec (probably changed now) but try ultraleds.co.uk and match the bulb spec to the LEDs - they where about £11 each, but have lasted and are very bright

BTW remove screws and gently prise from bottom of light
and body and it will come out
it seems very tight but will pop out eventually

To update, with spatula in hand on sat i managed to get the rear light clusters out. just levered off the body and out they popped. replaced the bullbs, then placed a 4" block on the brake to check they were working. result! 07 Discovery 3 TDV6 Commercial (Java Black) with:
