Might be interesting to know the comparative tyre wear rates of the different tyres makes on the Disco 3 ? - my Pirelli's (19") have worn from 8mm new down to 4mm in 9,000 miles, which appears quite a high wear rate (assuming that 2mm is probably the absolute minimun to have any realistic traction at all).

I just bought new Pirelli's after 42.000 km
My dealer didnt allow me to go home on the old ones, I went home driving a freelander 2005 Disco 3 TDV6 HSE in Ebony Gray

I suspect that the type of roads driven will affect mileage & that motorway driving will be better than start stop country roads?

I got almost 30k out of the standard fit 19" Wranglers. They would have done another few k if they had not scrubbed the edges away.
Now got Michelin Synchrones on, very quiet tyres

I still have around 4mm on the Pirelli (19") after 17k miles (half highway, half town driving).

We had to replace all 4 of our Wranglers at 17,000 miles as they were worn out due to uneven tyre wear. The dealer graciously didn't charge us for re allingning the wheel settings but I ended up paying full price for a new set of tyres. Disco 4 TDV6HSE

32K on my Wranglers before I re shod the D3. Would have had more out of them according to fitter but wanted a good grippy set for winter.
So far tyre wear has been beyond what I'd expected from such a heavy vehicle. Then most of my miles are on the M40 !

About 2mm on my Pirelli Zero's after 20000 miles and I will (obviously) need to change them soonish... but I am not sure what I should replace them with?
The majority of my driving is on the motorway, so I want something that is hard wearing with good noise/vibration reduction. Off road performance is not a factor (for me).
I have quotes for new Pirelli's already - range is £150 - £200 fitted + VAT (per corner)... but I would like to know if there is a better tyre for me?
Also, is there any thing an independent (non LR) tyre fitter should know (or do) when lifting the D3? I have had so many suspension issues in the past; I would hate them to reappear due to a lack of knowledge/procedure.
Any help, as always, will be appreciated.

I have no complaints with the Michelin Syncrones I had fitted in placed of the Wranglers. They are quieter, and just as good in the snow,

Just changed my Pirelli's 19" got 40,000 miles out of them just under 2mm left. Mainly motorway driving and towing 95% of the time. Even tread wear all round. Trying out some mich tyres to see what they are like could not get hold of pirelli's when i needed them.

I like the look/specs of the Michelin Synchrone's... but can anyone tell me if I will have any issues (legal or otherwise), should I need to use the spare (which I think is a full size Pirelli Zero)?

I've got Synchrones, they are very good. Very similar to the Wranglers, but much quieter. I still have a Wrangler spare.

I got quoted £200 for the Pirelli Zero's and £185 for the Michelin Synchrone's - each - fitted/inc VAT...
Does this seem about right?
