Remote control for the Webasto Independent heater

I was asking at my local dealer for a remote control for the Webasto independent heater and I received a negative answer. Is it really true!?

There are companies working on solutions and a few enterprising members have plumbed in their own remote systems.

Doing a search on the FBH will bring you the delights of over a years worth of debate on this subject.

Reading not for the faint hearted !

Cheers

I have read the extensive correspondense on this subject, however, I have a V8 HSE which doesn't have the factory installed Webasto. Now, if I want to install a Webasto in my car do I still face the remote control problem?

Shoeshine, in your case the Webasto would be a fully standalone unit and could be controlled by any method available, the only area that would have to be addressed is the connection to the heater blower and it's speed control.

Also assuming your car is petrol you will need a diesel tank added.

Webasto also makes a heater that runs on petrol. (For use in non-diesel vehicles Wink )

Damn!!! How did they work in my XJ40 Jag, Audi 200 turbo and BMW 528??

There are petrol versions, you know. Actually I tried to sell the one taken from the Beemer to Shoeshine Smile

And I do apologize if my writing seems a bit rude and provocative. Not intended, sorry. I just haven't slept in 37 hours Shocked Shocked

How can your post be taken as being rude and provocative.

I guess we stand corrected, or BN knows of a limitation. Whatever.

Yes, as several of you have mentioned there are petrol versions of Webasto as well. I also checked with the local representative of Webasto and they confirmed that the remote control is not an issue with a stand alone unit, there is also a LR kit for the heater blower available.

And by the way they were very aware of the remote control problem with the factory installed heater and confirmed that there is not a solution available from Webasto.

PS. Yello, I'm still interested in your Webasto, we just need to come to an agreement on the price Wink
