an 05 disco. happy enough with it but the rear suspension lets all the air out of it once the ignition is turned off / alarm set/ or within a couple of mins of being turned off.
the 2 RRS's I've had didn't do it, and it was a different set up on my defenders and old disco's (obviously )
does this sound right? or do I need it checked out?
cheers

Do you mean it actually drops the rear to the bump stops that quickly If it just lets out a hiss and does not actually drop, then its normal.
Mine has "The D3 Fart", it gives out a hiss and drops the suspension a little, but not down to the bump stops.I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.
there's certainly a big hiss and it sits down a bit but I don't think it goes down as far as the stops......... how much can it drop between normal road inflation and the stops approximately ??
cheers for the reply !

Here is a picture of AndrewS' D3 with the rear sat on the bumpstops, does yours drop this low at the back? if it does, you have a big problem!
If it just hisses and drops a little, its just self levelling and its normal
If I ever see it do that I'll know I'm in deep ****.
Looks like mine's just doing the 'Disco Fart' thing.
thanks for the info.

Both our (´05) D3 and (´07) RRS do this to self level, seems triggered by the last door shutting or the first door being opened after a few mins.... I´m not sure why the designers thought it was SO critical for it to be as level as possible. My previous D2´s and D1´s (obviously) didn´t level at all without coming to any harm.... Cheers

My 7-seater D2 GS, like the D3, does the disco fart thing...

My D1 did level itselves.
When I put all my camping gear in it went almost to Andrews picture mode and when I unloaded it leveled itselves out back to the normal stand. Roel

The D3 has four wheels idependently to level instead of just the rear wheels which leveled together in D2.
How often and how much depends upon how level the ground is.

The D3 "fart" certainly worried me the firs time it happened but now I am used to it. Just one of the car's quirky features which contributes to its character.
