Suspension Failure in Portugal |
|
Hi All,
Not sure if anybody can help but I would appreciate some advice.
We drove down to Portugal 3 weeks ago and the suspension dropped to access height. I managed to limp the car to Land Rover in Faro who have now scratched there heads since I left it there on 04th Aug, at first the diagnostics advised of compressor failure, which they changed and the car stayed down, I have been back today to be told that they think it is the Terrain Response control. Has anybody had any similar experience? Or can anybody offer any advice. Car hire has cost me €1,600 so far and we need to get home soon
Thanks in advance guy's

Tail light globe failure? Nah couldn't be that too simple. Not sure it would show as a compressor failure though. Couldn't do any harm getting them to check though.
Did you have the enhancement program done? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Did you ring LR Assistance? I got some assistance in France last week - very helpful.
Number should be in your manual

The vehicle is out of warranty and therefore not eligible for LRA
Spoke to Simo and gave him some pointers for the workshop - hopefully it'll be resolved tomorrow

If the dealer hasn't done the enhancment program (the one that involves compressor/valve change, not a torque tune re-map) you may have a warranty claim. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Any news yet.
Mines been in JV like for a week now with suspension failure .So far thay have changed one ride hight senser & wiring(13/08 ).Then the D3 would not link up with diagnostic pc to re-calibrate,when this was sorted out thay could not reset the Suspension & its was still collapsing when out on test drives(14/08 ).
Found another fault with front right air bag (small split)& replaced(15/08 ).When thay recalibrated & presure tested & test drove again, was still giving suspension failure warnig light.
After contacting LandRover Technical on Monday 18/08 all test were re run on there advice .Still giving Suspension failure warnings.
Jv Like have contacted me at lunch time today to say thay have hade to replace a section of wiring loom on the right hand side of the chasie rail ,the wiring had shorted out.Jv Like rang again this evening to say that the replacement wiring loom has cured the problem & will road test again tomorrow morning .Will have the D3 back in the afternoon. Will post more when Ive spoken to them tomorrow . May be this will help with your problem.Mines also out of warrenty by 3 weeks.Heres hoping I havent got to pay..

Thanks for the info.
Spoke to the stealer this morning who is adamant that if the diagnostics say Terrain Response fault then this is what it is I am really F@@ked off now. Nothing I can do though they have me by the B@llox. The next nearest stealer is in Lisbon 240km's away
I have been promised a call at 14:30 to see if the part they have ordered has arrived yet it should have been here yesterday but I think they must still use pigeons over here.

Hello Simo
More info for you.
Had the D3 back yesterday afternoon, after speaking to the Service Manager. The problem was the wiring from the front right hand side ride hight sensor .The outer sheathing protecting the wiring had worn away & damaged the wires inside causing them to short out.
Thay have rewired from the ride height sensor to were its joins into the wiring loom.
Hope this helps you .

The car came back to us today, still a little confused as to exactly what the problem was, but between LR Madrid and LR Faro they sorted the problem, what I can make out from the invoice was a new compressor and some wiring.
Heres the good bit, the whole job; new compressor, wiring and over 20 hours worked on the car €1200 not had a look at the exchange rates but I can bet you it would have cost double that in the UK.
TFC & Jools at Yoevile; thanks for all of your help and advice it was much appreciated I owe you both a beer................................................... or ten
