I keep getting a LOW COOLANT warning when i start up and stop the car. Checked the coolant level a 10 times but the message persists. Reading a US website it seems that there was a recall in the US for a faulty sensor. I don't have a dealer nearby so I am considering changing it myself...but I can't see it. It is not (at least not easily visible) in the header tank, so where could it be?
Any ideas

It's in the header tank apparently, a few members have had it replaced for the same issue. No doubt one of them will supply details soon.... The End

I saw the same message on a Disco3 I had for a test drive (about a month ago). The dealer explained this as a faulty sensor and said that it was known fault (but not yet corrected on this car).

there's also a train of thought that it can be triggered by a low specific gravity... i.e. a low mixture of coolant (used to be called anti-freeze but nowadays contains water pump lubricants and anti-corrosion additives as well)

Thats true. If your specific gravity is wrong it also triggers the warning.
But there are header tanks that need replacing under warranty.

I've recently had this. I've just had my sensor/tank assembly changed to rectify this problem. Faulty sensor apparently- but the header tank gets changes as it's all the same subassembly. I don't think it's a big job.
If I was in Azerbijan (spelling?) I would just leave it, keep my eye on the tank level and get it fixed when back near a dealer again.
BTW: You're brave buying a DIsco and not having a dealer within30 mins drive. Given the high level of little niggles these vehicles have I wouldn't have risked it.

The float in the expansion tank becomes"water logged" and sinks and contacts the sensor-the fix is to fit the latest modified tank.The sensor/float cannot be changed by themselves.Obviously you will have checked your coolant to make sure it isn't actually low -look down the side to see the upper and lower level markings!

Well, I had my first false low coolant warning on the way home tonight. I feel like I've moved onto another level of ownership
BTW Serviced 900 miles ago and levels are fine. I think she just thought it was funny to make me stop in the rain and lift the bonnet

Dealer tells me it's caused by a sensor, fault known to LR and a replacement sensor is being ordered.

Header tank currently on order to rectify warning showing when coolant level is normal. Dealer says that the floats become porous 2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE
