land rover assistance, what to expect

hi all

well would you believe it we are going on holiday tomorrow 2pm and the d3 has just suffered a suspension fault. i have turned car off restarted and 3 miles down the road suspension fault again.

i have spoken to land rover assistance and they were going to send a recovery truck to fetch the vehilce tonight and give me a ford focus to go on holiday, well no way i said 5 people a dog and a load of presents i don't think so mr ford focus Twisted Evil

anyway they have decided to send a technician out between 8am and 10 am to see if they can sort it out.

now then you lot do you think they will fix it at my house by a reset on the t4 computer or am i going to be left without a proper car to go on holiday in

cheers shawn

LR assist is not directly run by LR.
The techs did not have T4 available when they came to mine, and I don't think there were plans to get it.
But on the plus side they do tend to know all the up to date fixes/ issues, and so should be able to sort it if it doesn't require parts.
This is my experience of the guy that covers this patch.
Hope u get fixed up and have a good Christmas, but if you don't I know how you will feel as mine first let me down as we were about to go on a summer hol, so you have my sympathy.

Get firm with the dealer, they must fix the fault or reject the car, being busy is not an excuse. Ask to speak to the Dealer Principle, go in person if need be. At present you are probably being fobbed off by service who perhaps don't see the whole picture - good luck

I'm in same situation, luckly my dealer's trying to fix the car but looks unlikley before xmas hols. I've 3 adults, golden retriever and a mountain of presents to shift to Scotland. If they offer me a focus they can stick it, thats what I sold to by a D3.

LR customer service said they'd put my in touch with thier hire company and I'd get a choice of what I want out of what they have to offer.

hi all

thanks for the replys, do any off you know the possible cause of this suspension fault i.e. is there a common fault, the car is ok for about 5-10 minutes then goes into fault mode, turn off reset and all ok again for a while

cheers shawn

There is a Tech Bulletin regarding replacing a connector in the front left wheel arch. It been out for ages so I would have thought your dealer would know about it.

The bulletin is reference LA204-001

This seems to have cured a lot of sick Disco's.

Be careful if LR offer a day rate to rent a car - I had to rent a car for 3 months due to lack of parts and they said they would give me £40 a day towards rental (All in writing) Now I had a friend who runs a rental company and did me a deal - they now want invoices which were never originally mentioned. Still waiting for money from LR and will be suing them in New Year.

Your best bet is to do what SWMBO did when the dealer offered her a vauxhall zafira when D3 was in the sick bay once more. In the words of Basil Fawlty " If you don do it now I am going to come round there and insert a large garden gnome in you ". Generally wander around the showroom telling anyone who will give you air time what a dog your new D3 is until they give you the demo car. The dealers seem to forget who is the customer and who has paid £30k+ for a kit of spare parts that works from time to time .
The other lie they employed until I caught them out is "there are no 4x4's available today so here is a lovely vauxhall, ford etc ,having spotted the name of the rental company I rang them only to be informed " you will never get a 4x4 from us as we do not have any in our UK fleet" I got the RRS Demo for two days that time:twisted: Twisted Evil
Alive and kicking..who's round is it anyway ??
