Some very helpful comments on this thread - thanks to all contributors!
I swapped my passenger drain tube tonight. It only took about an hour, majority of which was spent trying to get the green connector back on the back of the CJB. Didn't even need to take the lower glove box off.

Interesting read on this thread as I also have the drivers footwell soaking wet.
Can somebody advise me if, after removing the side air intake grill, you should be able to see the end of the drain tube? I can’t see anything other than the rubber of the intake.

Hi terryall. I thought both sides drain out through the air intake grill but can't find anywhere that specifically states that (like you). I have a D4 2016 model , would you like me to check on mine tomorrow? I ask as not sure D3 and D4 models are the same in this regard.
CheersGary

Here's someone that has recently unblocked a D3 drivers side drain, so may be able to assist you, if you ask.
Good luck.Gary

Gary_P, thanks for the link. Yes, I’ve read on here that the drain tube finishes somewhere inside where the side grill is and I presume it’s the same on a D4. I can’t see any end of a tube when I look and I need to find it to poke some wire up to try and unblock the tube. It hasn’t worked trying from the top.

terryall - so sorry for the delay. I won't bore you with why.
I've checked for the drivers side drains behind the air intake grill. Having taken the grill off, I could see that unlike the passenger side, this is actually the air intake with a rubber duct going into the bonnet. (I believe I did know this, having read it on here somewhere). Anyway, I pulled the air intake rubber duct to one side to see if I could see any sign of the drain output and also felt behind it. I couldn't see or feel any sign of the drain output. I may be wrong , but thinking about it, it wouldn't be wise to output water right in the place you are pulling in your air. I didn't want to, nor did I know how to remove the rubber air intake duct. So I have to say without further online research I'm not sure where the drivers side front sunroof drain end is located.
I know there are people on here that have repaired/replaced it, so perhaps someone else can assist.
Good luck sortingGary

Here's the air intake duct behind the grill. Not sure this is any help, but thought I would share what I found. The passenger side has a rubber blanking insert, if I remember rightly.Gary

Gary-P,
Exactly the same as my D3 but I still can’t find the end of a drain tube. I’ve managed to get a cycle brake cable all the way down to where the tube should end, or that vicinity, but it suddenly stops . I’ve also blown air down the tube to no avail. If I pour water into the roof
Drain it comes out in the drivers footwell so I’ve found the problem but don’t know how to fix it.

I found this link . There is a video which briefly shows the location of the drain on the driver side in the air intake vent. Looks like I must have missed it. Hope this helps.

Before I go completely insane can somebody please tell me where the lower end of the drivers side sunroof drain tube ends. As in the photo I have taken off the air inlet grill and shifted the intake rubber to one side but I’m blowed if there is any sign of a drain tube anywhere - even by using my super fancy Olight key ring torch!
If I pour water into the sunroof drivers side drain tube it comes out straight away in the footwell so it must be this tube leaking somewhere. Any clues greatly appreciated.
Thanks

In the video I posted, they show it as being in the very top left hand corner of that vent as you are facing it ( after the air intake duct has been pulled out the way).
If there is no rubber outlet there is there a hole in that position?Gary

Gary_P,
No, there is no discernible hole at all but you could say there is a very small channel there or it could just be the meeting of two pieces of metal. However, to reach the top left corner you have to pull back a piece of foam which is slightly damp so perhaps this is where the drain hole came out initially. Odd that there is no sign of the grommet that is supposed to be there.

Thanks for that Gary. Still no sign of any grommet and I’ve almost stuck my head inside the air intake trying to find it. I tried another length of wire and poked it down the roof drain hole and it went down all the way but never came out where it should have so I don’t know where it did go. I’d it easy to change the drain tube on drivers side or, failing that, I wonder if I should just block off the drain hole.

Strange ! I'm feeling for you. I'm told it's much easier to change than the passenger side (which I have done), but I have no experience of doing drivers side. I didn't replace the whole drain, just the bottom section from the elbow.
By the way, when I pushed a strimmer cable into my bad drain, I eventually saw it come out under the glove box. That was when I pushed through from the vent end.
I'll have search over next day to see if I can find anything more specific on how to replace drivers side. There must be something somewhere and I'm surprised people with experience of this have not responded with some tips on method. Fingers crossed. You could try PMing some of those who have reportedly done it.
In the meantime, if you need to keep it water tight, electrical tape is a great way of sealing the sunroof without causing issues when you come to remove it.
Cheers
GaryGary
