Parts - Bl**dy Dealers !!! |
|
Mentioned on another thread I had a power steering drive belt failure.
Whilst waiting on the recovery service, I telephoned Marshalls in Lincoln to see if they had a belt and could fit it if the recovery guy couldn't.
I don't believe it they didn't keep such a small ancillary item in stock.
If they had, I would have been on my way again carrying out my business.
So, I had no option but to be recovered back home to York.
Local dealer also doesn't have a belt in stock - another has, but cann't deliver until tomorrow!!
D3 is down my drive out of action today and tomorrow - I'm going on hol on Fri
Fact is, for such a small, low cost ancillary item that has not been kept in stock, I am now off the road and lost a full weeks business [as well as being charged for late cancellation of my Travel Inn].
A huge cost to me, just because dealers don't stock what they should!!
btw, D3 is out of warranty. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

It's out of Warranty and therefore Landrover assist.
Even if I did have a courtesy car, I would have had to get back to Lincoln to collect mine.
Difficult when doing a long haul trip down the south east coast. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

I know it's of no use to you but i keep 4 instock
Just done a uk dealer stock search and only 38 out of 130 dealers keep it
your right...such a small insignificant part but what hassle if not kept..
BUT
in their favour...most dealers work with computer DMS systems which will only look at ordering something if 3 of a part are used...
And many DP's and dealer accountants stamping on the parts guys to keep stock holding (£££) down to a minimum and trade offs will be made...
Theres still no computer around that can do a finger in the air...what will i need to keep in stock but experience is something earned and in my experience you try to keep these types of things in stock. TLO has left the building.......
I no longer work for a Landrover Dealer
My little chilli sauce business http://www.thechillees.co.uk
if you would like to order anything just give me a shout

I know it won't help you in this situation - but just bear in mind Duckworth's at Market Rasen. As a dealership I can do nothing but sing their praises for their outstanding service. I know they're a bit further away for you - but they come and collect my D3 from work in Hull - on a trailer -and bring it back at no cost to me. I know if I had been in the Lincoln area, they would have been my first choice. I was taught to be cautious.

Wonder if LRA would have carried it? When my D2 needed a top hose the attending LRA tech did so simple, quick and perm fix - made the cost of LRA worth every penny. Cheers

Yes it's great to know that you Nick, not had just one ..but 4 in stock!!
And equally great to know that I would have had better luck if I called Duckworths over Marshalls!!
It's not fair
