Any lasts tests before replacing HPFP?
Recovered a few weeks ago due to repeated P0087 errors (fuel rail pressure low). The faults occurred all at low revs and low load. I didn’t want to test high revs but I have a feeling it might have got me home if the PCV was sticking on small requested changes.
I have ruled out the low pressure system, changed filter and tested pressure and flow and the schrader valve. Over 6PSI and 1.8ltr/min.
I have done a leak off test and all are within spec (just) one of them is a good bit higher than the others but still not a huge amount in a 4 min idle test. I think if they’re leaking badly enough to cause low fuel rail pressure they’d have to be filling the bottle in a minute or two is that correct?

So I’m left with replacing the HPFP although as it starts and runs fine I’m thinking it’s the PCV on the pump (or VCV).
The HPFP on there was installed last year and it is a black painted one so I’m assuming it was a reconditioned one which would be another example of a recon pump having issues with the valves.
Are there any other tests I should do before going ahead?

In case anyone else finds this looking for the same codes. It was the high pressure fuel pump. I replaced it with one from a breakers and it's been faultless. The one on there was a Lucas one, less than a year old. This is clearly one of the parts that is on the 'must be genuine' list.
