Replacing Drivers pretensioner help
Does anyone know if when you replace the pretensioner if you need to program it to the ECU or is it a straight swap
just swapped mine as it was faulty ( known for a while) but now there is another fault saying the Right side restraints sensor 1 has a signal/message failure.
unfortunatly because i knew the pretensioner was faulty i didnt scan it before fitting so i dunno if this fault was there before or if its because i need to tell the system it has a different pre tensioner Discovery 3 - Black SE with HSE upgrade

your code doesn't mention "seat".
I think there is a 2 wire sensor in the door or on the cill B post . Maybe its that
You could:
1) Unplug the new thing you fitted. Turn ignition on twice. Read codes, and see what the name of the new fault code is. Does it say seat?
2) If in doubt, You could unplug your new thing, and plug the old one back in, (not bolt it in), clear codes and rescan. See what you get.

Done some digging around today and unplugged the sensor in the drivers door and it doesn’t bring up any more faults so I’m guessing there is something wrong with the wiring or sensor itself

This is the exact fault I did happen to have a spare sensor in the garage so plugged that in and no difference so it must be the wires
It’s the invalid serial data phrase the makes me wonder if something needs coding to the ecu 🤪Discovery 3 - Black SE with HSE upgrade

Just incase someone is searching around in the future I found the fault
One of the wires for the sensor had worn though in the flex between the door and the a piller
A simple fix of fixing the wire back together and hey press the fault is gone. We had to remove the flex from the a piller and back through the door to access it for fixing the break, be prepared for a lot of swearing as it’s a tight fit, there are also how too guide for removing the plug( you have to go through the footwell to disconnect it from the in vehicle wires then there is a plate on the plug between the door and piller that clicks up to release the plug from the a piller, again there is a short how to video out there)
Hope this helps to anyone searching around for the answer like I was, so many times I saw posts out there with the same problem but no answers to how they sorted it in the end 🤣Discovery 3 - Black SE with HSE upgrade

Thanks for the answer.
Yes, wiring breaks into the door are a problem, particularly the thick black earth wire
