Rear 12V socket installment
Hello,
first of all, kindly excuse me if I'm asking an obvious question. I recently purchased Discovery 3 2005 and I'm super happy with it. I made some modifications already and what I want to do now is to add a 12V socket to my trunk. There is a pre-prepared place where I can add 12 socket. I already bought the socket itself and wonder how (where) to connect the cables. On the left side where I'll be installing the socket, there are many cables coming from the front to the lights, etc. Which wires can I use to add a 12V socket, please? Is there a thread or ideally a video on how to do it? Thank youuu

I'm surprised that you don't already have a socket in the back. I thought they all had it...mine does and it isn't as high a spec as yours. Since you say you have the "space", I wonder if yours has simply been removed? Either way, the good news is that the wiring for the socket is almost certainly part of the standard wiring loom, so it should just be a matter of looking up the wiring diagram and finding the right colour of wires behind the socket location in the rear loadspace.Previously:

I guess it was not removed as the original cover hiding the 12V socket "hole" is there. I'll make a picture once I'm with the car. Hopefully there will be some good guidance where to connect the cables, I was not successful with it yet.

Sharing the pictures of my "12V socket". Strange that it is not there especially based on the car configuration.

Seems I'll need to dig in deeper, I went through the topic you gave me a link to, and still not sure which cables connect to which. But that's probably just because of the evening I'll hop on it during the weekend and hopefully I'll not burn the entire car

Looks like it is the purple wire that you need - if you follow it does it go to a connector?

I can't help with the question, but I like that blanking plate ! I'd rather have that and put the socket somewhere more discreet.

Nice! Thank you! I have the car at service for regular maintenance but cannot wait to check that out. Thanks again!

It's a utility car for me. I'm converting it for explorations, and I don't mind an easy-to-access connector at that location. I'm considering having at least two 12V sockets in the trunk as well as 230V convertor.
I'm looking forward to Cascadia 4x4 restocking VSS Hood in version 2.0. Yay! They will have the new version available in 1H 2025.
