Oil filter housing / oil cooler leak
I'm going to have lots of questions, new owner here, a whole week into Disco ownership so far ! I'm going over it sorting as much as I can before the weather gets rubbish. Oil change today and I noticed lots of oil in the vee of the engine, and a trail down the back of the engine. This is the oil filter housing / oil cooler, right ? Do I definitely need a new unit, or just the seal ? I can see you can buy the seals/gaskets on their own ?

Most likely you or whoever did oil change damaged oring around oil filter housing which is common.
Take out the unit check the o-ring if not damaged (i doubt) might also be that housing not been torqued correct upon installation?

Nope, not me, I've only had it a week, I'm going over it fixing the stuff that's been bodged by the "specialists" that were paid to maintain the "full service history" The o-ring was fine and the filter housing needs very little torque to seal it. I've found several threads relating to the housing/oil cooler joint leaking though.
FWIW, it was serviced by a specialist last Dec and had only done 1,412 miles by last weekend, this is the air filter I took out on Saturday:
That is NOT 1,400 miles of dirt, and you'll notice the filter is date stamped 2017 Why would you not change it at every service ??? This is why I do all the work myself. I don't trust other people.
