Hello All,
New to the world of LR here.
Recently acquired a 2013 V8 D4. And of course, the story of an 11yo used car starts with a shot arm control bushings đ˘
Iâm looking to change all of the below items
Front upper arm bush
Rear lower & upper arm bush
Can anyone guide me what kind of brands should i get/avoid?
Iâm open for any OEM/aftermarket options out there. The prices on the genuine LR parts are mind boggling. Not entirely sure if it is really necessary to replace wear n tear parts using the original LR products.
Need your guidance to find the right fit for me. Preferably the wallet friendly ones. Of course, priority remains on the quality of it.
The car will be used around town with a bit of light off roading in the future.

Front upper, doesnât matter that much but Lemforder is fine (and is OE)
Front lower, Meyle HD
Rear lower, Lemforder
Rear upper, Lemforder
Things you didnât ask about but might be useful to change if you need:
Front and rear ARB bushes, Meyle HD
Front and rear stabilizer links, Meyle HD
(I have a D3 V8 and mostly try to use âperceived qualityâ but avoid the green oval add on charges )
Edit: I realized you asked about the bushes while I answered about the [complete] arms. This is because in many cases the bolts in such shape it might not be possible to remove them but rather one has to cut them off. This might not be how it is in the desert where there isnât salt, sleet, rain, and the sun always shines etc.

I also noticed that the car seems to shake when cruising and especially shaky during braking. Do you think that the worn bushes are contributing to this issue?

More likely the prop shaft centre bearing has failed. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Ideally you want a GKN or Hardy Spicer (it is the same company) branded prop shaft. I got a Febi Bilstein one recently as there wasnât any stock of the two former. Will see how it performs and lasts. The old one lasted 19 years and 300k km.

If youâve got it on a ramp and the wheels are in the air, do take a look at both the upper and lower knuckle bushes in the rear, too. Lemforder is fine or Meyle (cheaper).

I have done all the bush changes by pressing into arms, but its a journey and took to making tools etc.
Only ones i havent changed yet is front upper control arms as they still seem solid, if anything they need to be changed as they look abit rusty!
All my bolts have come out fine not had to cut any. I've used Lemforder (which i got from a chap selling on here so a good price) Also used Meyle HD in front which are great and cheaper available from advanced factors. If you are considering pressing yourselfIi'd buy a 2nd set from ebay to get the work done ahead of the change and only about ÂŁ20 per side.
Only the big one really seemed bad on any of my vehicles front lower arms or the ones I bought to change out, rest seemed ok changed all anyway. The rear arm change seemed to make most difference to the drive.

Indeed. I got a ready made set with the wheel bearing, hub, bushes inserted into the rear knuckles when I got mine replaced. But the chief complaint then was imminent failure of bearing + upper knuckle bushes, etc.

Hey guys,
Thanks again for the huge support.
Havent done the repairs as of now as two reputable garages in my area (the UAE) suggested to change the whole arm as they claim it can be a false economy.
Apparently itâs a thing around here for bush housing gets worn overtime because of dirt and debris that manage to seep through it from bushes being pushed in and out throughout the carâs lifetime. Not sure if it is the case in other regions with different environments.
However, i found the previous owner purchased a new arms within the past 2 years. I guess iâm still gonna go with just the bushing change for now as the arms are considerably new and have never had bushings being pushed in and out yet.
Anyway, is this the case in where you guys are living?

If you have the bushes on a two year old arm goâŚ. WTH have people done with the vehicle in the past?
Here in Finland the bushes certainly last longer. Reason garages cut the arms is that changing bushings is not very cost effective particularly if the bolts are all jammed up. And salt on the roads, etc. contribute to the general condition during winter months⌠so rust.
