Brake shoes
Got a quick question because I don’t think my shoes were fitted correctly by the previous owner n/s adjustment was at the bottom o/s adjustment was at the top surly both should be at the bottom with the big spring at the top and the little spring at the bottom

I’ve just rebuilt the guards what a nightmare having to do the wheel bearings in the process it’s been a nightmare but well worth the results

Hi Cheeko,
The shoes are right, I know it's a weird set up.
How long did it take you? I'm looking at doing the same in the next couple of months, as got the guards like you and realised it would be a bigger job. I think my bearings are on their way, as had to change the top arms due to one collapsing, and suspect other components will fail soon.

Around 4 hours in at the moment hour a side to strip then half hour to un press and repress the bearings then an hour to build both sides up I’m lucky though my mate has a massive bottle jack set up seen it done another way but I don’t think it’s as easy as he makes it look because the bearings went with a right crack wasn’t a cheap job though think I’m at around £200 annoying thing is my bearings looked good but unfortunately they were not replaceable I’ve prob got about another 3 hours because I need to remove handbreak module I didn’t put it into service mode and I’ve pulled the centre apart learning curve 😂😂 good luck buddy hope it all goes smooth for you

The hex heads all spun that holds the guard in place think I had 1 out of 6 that come out others I had to slit then use an impact extraction tool or and mark the top bolt so the washers go back in same place this I didn’t do but it’s going for 4 wheel alignment anyway so I wasn’t that bothered other than that no real issues I’ve read of people having to cut loads of bolts because there seized but it’s just 4 I think quite straight forward just remember to remove the abs sensor before you remove the drive shafts 🤞 for you

Good idea if you have bottom less pockets as long as you clean and sand the parts correctly I cannot see an issue

And me personally I wouldn’t use Brit part as in the trade there called part for a reason 😂😂

It does have somewhat of a reputation in the past at least.
I assumed that if AF sells these they’re going to be fine as AF tends to “curate” what they have in stock. So let’s say they’ll last at least 5 years and 100k km. The existing ones are original so 19 years and 300k km but will the vehicle hold together for another as long period? I’m doubting it

😂😂 I’d still rather just do the job myself as you still have to go to the effort of pushing the hub out and in but each to there own mine might not work might be sound hopefully I’ll never have to touch them again 😂😂

Cheers for that. At least it's still about £300-400 cheaper than fitting complete units. I'm very capable to do the job and have a mate with a press luckily. My worst problem will be the weather changing I think, lol.

Lefty loosie righty tighty don’t work with the hand break module it’s the opposite so don’t make the mistake I did and get it wrong 😂😂 oh and new cable on the screw side is 5 complete resolutions good luck to all who try its wasn’t too bad 🤞 it works 😂😂
