[For Sale] Discovery 3 V8 SE 2004 FSH
Sadly time to sell my favourite car out of all 14 I've owned as I'm now doing much more regular long distance trips and have bought a Jag XF Sportbrake (to stay in the JLR stable and still retain some level of a decent boot for camping etc, but with more sensible mpg).
For sale (Sheffield):
2004 4.4 V8 SE (but with HSE extras)
207,600 miles
Lots of documented history (main items listed below and see photo for invoices), including 4 new air spring units (OEM BWI from Advanced Factors), lower front control arms, Megaflush
Never had LPG
Road tax £415
My ownership since Nov 2019. Main work done beyond standard service/consumables, all at good Land Rover indy's:
New radiator, spark plugs, knock sensor in 2020
Megaflush in 2021
New full air springs/shocks and 4 wheel alignment in 2022
Rear propshaft in 2023
Front lower arms in 2024
Handbrake serviced/adjusted at various points
Main spec:
7 seats
4 x heated front and rear seats all work
Harmon Kardon 6 CD changer works
Cruise control works
Elec sunroof works and no leaks
Elec front seats work in all motions
2nd and 3rd seat folding mechanisms all work
Steering wheel stereo controls all work
Small amp and cables to play phone music though aux port at proper volume
Elec windows all work
Mechanic has advised transmission cooler pipe is corroded and leaking. Drives fine and autobox is nice and smooth and operating as normal. Brand new pipes have been ordered (£203 OEM) but mechanic isn't free to do it until end of September so will sell with pipes included if someone wants to sort themselves.
Parking sensors don't work. Aircon not working. Had it re-gassed a few years ago and it worked but didn't hold the gas for very long and I've not bothered tracing the leak. Spare wheel winder is jammed. Cosmetically this is a 20 year old car, rust patch above n/s tail light and wheel arch corners, scuff on n/s/ rear door (no corrosion but won't buff out), alloys need a refurb.
Tyres are high spec with 5mm on rears (Goodyear Eagle F1) 3mm on fronts (Michelin Cross Climate SUV), but front n/s tyre worn on outer edge (from when the old control arms were worn prior to new ones being fitted).
Still a great drive and used almost daily and has just been to the Lakes and back for a camping trip. Replaced by a more economical estate car now I'm doing a lot more long distance journeys. A very comfortable, quiet, practical, and cherished car and I'll be sad to see it go, but ideally to someone who appreciates these ace vehicles.
