D4 SDV6 DTC P0299 Subcode 77 (P0299-77)
Looking for a bit of wisdom or reference material for a DTC on my D4 SDV6.
I have had two instances in the last couple of 1000 miles of reduced performance triangle triggered and a DTC P0299-77 logged as seen by my (admittedly cheap) code reader. I don't get any other codes and it clears with restart. No other symptoms other than a bit of 'whooshing' under acceleration around 2000RPM, but that may be normal.
Can anybody shed any light on the 77 subcode? I understand the P0299 to be turbo A under boost which can have a range of causes. Hoping the 77 may narrow down what to look for.
Thanks in advance.

The sub code refers to the ECU's binary/hexadecimal bits format which it uses to justify generating the fault code (ie tests carried out, failed/passed etc)
In other words it does not relate to the "actual" fault itself, only the means by which the relevant ECU got there!! There are "advanced read" capabilities for faults on some diagnostic tools, but these tend to be at the upper end of the diagnostic market. (GAP IID et al)
As for your P0299-77 it's very likely a leak in the pressure side of the turbo pipework as indicated by the whoosh sound.
It's common, and very often easier to repair than it is trying to find the offending pipe. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Thanks for the insight & advice PROFSR G, that is interesting to know re test bits.
I will see if I can get the time to go round the hoses this week and hope for an easy find & fix. The code has only presented under low load (slow speed, low revs) so far so guess any leak must be small.
