Engine 'tappety'
Hi All,
I'm not sure if I am just being paranoid or not, but I feel like my SDV6 isn't running as smooth as others I have heard. It started sounding a bit tappety recently, so I got it booked in for a service & oil change hoping that some nice new fresh oil would quiet everything down as most people have experienced. However I feel like it has made no difference.
Maybe I am forgetting the sound of the SDV6, but I'd just like to know if I am going mad or not!
Thinking it may be hydraulic lifters?

Sounds about right to me... well, on a YT video at least.
If you're near empty of fuel, try a fill with the good stuff, and see what it sounds like then.2011 MY D4 HSE

Always difficult to convey on video!
I did fill up with a tank of V-power after this video, and it did seem a little better.
I picked it up at the beginning of the year, and I think it had a few years of Chelsea tractor use before I got it. It looked like it was a bit blocked up when I started driving it, DPF Full messages, but I have given it a bit of use since then, more akin to what a disco should expect!2016 Discovery 4 HSE

Pull the engine cover and look for any carbon / leakage around the injectors.
Had a bad injector seal once and it sounded like tappers when cold. Eased when warmed up. Just another possible.New Engine - Fitted with body on...
