I did the alternator and blower motor myself (i am still traumatised!) it needed over stuff also (brake lines, lower arms etc) it was always good quality after market parts but not LR parts as they are silly prices. this was using a good local independent. I think i got unlucky as it was all age related stuff but could happen with any car. they are hard to work on! the alternator took me two days in the  rain in january on my sloppy drive! never again lol
