Just looking for a bit of advice. My AC is not working. I have rear AC and I’m sure it’s related and have booked it in for diagnostics. The pipes are all in good condition from what I have inspected. Maybe a seal.
Anyway, I have plugged the car in and read all codes. I have none. Reading this forum I have seen that low pressure will trigger. But this isn’t the case. I have read the live data and my AC gallery pressure is 12.5kpa and this is very low compared to pressures I’ve seen on here. But no fault. In addition, my compressor current is on 0A. And will not change when I engage or disengage the AC. I believe the newer compressors on the D4 have clutches. But would expect a fault to disengage the clutch etc.
Hopefully this makes sense. Like I said, it’s booked in for May. But I’m just curious.
Hi all. The D4 has been in the garage for 2 day for Ac diagnosis. They have pressure tested and UV tested the AC. Alll passed. Compressor working and all main components etc. No leaks from pipes that he can see. But the pressure hasn’t altered. He says it’s good but would like too keep an eye till tomorrow.
The reason I’m writing this, is as much as I’m happy. The guy I brought the car off had the AC topped up a month before I picked it up this time last year. But when the AC guy pulled the old gas from my system yesterday, there was nothing… but he can find no leaks. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Like I said, the guy will keep it and re examine the system tomorrow.Craig.

Compressor gas level needs checking but you’d be surprised I’ve heard filters getting clogged or stuck in a position where it blocks airflow, have that checked out also!Discovery 4

So after all that, I was surprised that the rear pipes were leaking. Two O rings. But a big leak above the sway bar.
I have ordered the two rear sections LR013855 and LR013854. I will have the AC specialist to empty the system and recharge after I have fitted the new pipes. I couldn’t find a suitable aftermarket plastic replacement. But I will try and think of treating the pipes before fitting.
Here are the pictures of the leaks.
I will upload my progress over the weekend. With me luck!!!
So day one. Horrible…. I have striped a lot of the rear of the car to remove the old pipes. It was a lot of messing around. But I wanted to try and remove them intact to help me figure a way of fitting the new pipes. I ended up pulling and bending them….. I have removed the side trims, wheel arch, air compressor and the silencer, the spare wheel, the exhaust heat shields, some extra bits along the way and A lot of snapped bolts. But the exhaust and diff I haven’t removed (yet). I have also noticed I need a new prop shaft soon.
The old pipes (although leaking) looked ok. The coolant pipes to the rear look worse. I can’t find any obvious hole or excessive corrosion to the aluminium pipes.
Tomorrow or Sunday I will try and fit the new pipes. It’s a worry.
When I removed my AMK compressor, I noticed a black plastic pipe that wasn’t connected to anything but runs to the silencer, what is it for?

The answer is no, I didn’t. However, I have realised that it could have been due to the pressure valve telling the clutch to disengage for protection. Now it’s been regassed it comes up with a reading. Maybe check is the pressure sensor is working ok. Do you get a pressure reading?

Well 2 weeks ago it had a re gas but just literally with gap tool connected it said the pressure is 10.9 psi. The compressor is 2 years old along with most of the pipe work

Ye I got a receipt the car goes to the garage for the stuff I can not do. Apparently they used 600 units of R134. I spoke to them and there was nothing wrong with it and the system held pressure. I to be honest and trying to double check the pressure from another source to prove either car is wrong or there is a leak and they didn’t say
