2016 adblue disco EPB problem |
|
Just had a call from my local independent that as a result of my 2016 landmark being adblue, they need to take the body off to replace the EPb module - any great ideas from this forum as this seems very costly and an extreme resolution. Appreciate your help JB

The Adblue in the title threw me a bit.
If you mean the Electronic Park Brake module, no they don't need to take the body off. Find another garage.
Have a look at this:

It would seem that the adblue tank means that the EPB module is not accessible unlike all earlier disco 4s. So I win on UlEZ but lose on repair costs - any recommendations on a decent independent in SW london/surrey ? JB

Would be good to get confirmation on this.
I remember that when I changed the EPB module on my D3 I dropped the spare wheel and did the whole thing sitting in the space where the wheel was, and performing the whole operation through the hole in the crossmember which is only accessible without the spare wheel in place.
My memory tells me it would just about be possible with the Adblue tank etc in the way, but it would be far more awkward.
However, I've only been under my D4 with the spare wheel removed once, and although I can remember what the tank looks like I don't remember the rest. Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

Thanks for everyone’s thoughts - situation got better then worse - new module fitted but failed and as result. New module obtained but garage has no capacity to fit so car is sort of abandoned on the garage ramp and has become a hospital job - problem is every LR dealer in Surrey appear to be booking one month ahead so can’t take it anywhere else - any bright ideas on who might be able to sort the EPB in Surrey ?

So two months later and the third EPB is installed and was very quiet- I drove 2300 miles to South and France and back - during the trip the occasional grinding came from EPB on release. Spoke to the guys who took two months to install and they seem to think it’s some adjustment needed - needles to say the earliest appointment is around the birthdate of my grandchildren ( I don’t have any yet) - LR dealers don’t have any appointments for months either Any ideas on diagnosis and home
Fix from this learned forum ?

Try Harris Mayes, if you can get to Rickmansworth (they have courtesy cars!).
The main technical guy there, Drew has a ridiculous amount of knowledge:

They've never let me down.
They service all the local police LR's and are LR specialists.
Very friendly and won't mess you around. Discovery 4 HSE late 2015 Euro6

Thanks to everyone for your help and an update - eventually found a Rangerover Works in Wandsworth who were super helpful and convenient for me. They identified simply an adjustment needed which I guess I should learn how to do. EPB now fixed ( don’t want to jinx it) - I really must recommend these guys though as they are exceptionally friendly and communicative and seem to be able to find slots. Every LR service agent in SW London is booking 6 weeks in advance and my local guys are simply never available except if I want an MOT! Anyway onto the the next two fixes adblue dosing problem and transfer case module problem!! Hopefully these will be fixed very soon.
