| AT tyres suggestion for Compomotive PD1881 |
|
Hi everyone , I just bought 4 Compomotive PD1881 rims, want to fit some AT tyres on 18inch rims. I mainly use my Disco 4 for normal daily road driving and will go to snow mountain every winter. Is any good suggestion for AT tyres depending my request ? And what size is good for Disco.
I personally want to buy Pirelli AT plus in size 265/65R18 or 265/60r18, is anyone have this tyres with PD1881 ?

I have been running Davanti Terratoura 19's, I'm not in a position to recommend them and will be replacing them shortly with Michelin Latitude Cross 255/60R18 V's as long as the 18 inch defender wheels I've bought fit.
Unfortunately the Michelin's don't have the 3PMSF rating.
Kumho AT52 and Falken ATWA were my other considerations but I decided to go for something slightly milder, I had the Michelin's before on my D3 and was happy them.

I've been running Goodyear AT on my Defender for the last 25000 miles. Very happy with them.
My fave AT tyres were the Avon AX7 though. Loved those. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

BFG All Terrain T/A KO2s get my vote - incredible longevity, 3PMSF marked, all season and virtually indestructable. My current set have done over 45k miles and still plenty of life left in them. Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

I always stuck to the standard LR size (D3) of 255/60/18 on my D3 and D4’s.
If you rarely venture off road, I’d fit a quality 3PMSF rated all season tyre. Three of my cars have Michelin Cross Climates fitted, I swear by them and they wear really well. There’s an SUV version, which I also have, but on a rwd car.
CrossClimate 2 SUV 255/60 R18 112V XL should cost you around £150 each.

I fitted Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 in September 2021.
I'm very pleased with their all round performance, including shooting & ice & snow in the Pyrénées.
They are 3PMSF rated and seem to be lasting very well.

I agree with LT - fit a decent winter-rated road tyre if you only ever do road driving and need to be able to go on snow for skiing without the need to fit winter tyres. The CrossClimate 2 does well in all of the comparative tests I've seen. There's a CC2 SUV which will likely be exactly as good and intended for SUVs. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
