Yes - I have seen it on a number of occasions recently.

I wonder what is causing it?

I've had it a 3 or 4 times over the last few days, but refreshing the page usually results in the page displaying correctly.

We are under pressure from bots which is overloading the server/database, I'm working on blocking them.

Not sure on the exact environment you’re working with but have you thought of putting cloudflare or something similar in front of the website? It tends to be useful for most people. Pretty good at detecting whether human or bot as well as mitigate the normal DDoS, both volumetric or protocol specific, stuff.

Or if that is too invasive, perhaps the Turnstile service would work instead? See https://developers.cloudflare.com/turnstile/, there is a free plan which does not have volume limits.

Have investigated this and discovered Censored Face Censored book hoovering up gallery images at an site-breaking rate Censored OFF!

This basically caused a denial-of-service to the site database, knocking the forum offline.

To mitigate this I have, for the moment, taken the gallery pages offline.

Uploading images via the forum still works.

I have implemented Cloudflare in front of the site as suggested, but interestingly there seem limited ways to block or rate limit Facebook specifically using Cloudflare tools. I guess FB pay too much Rolling Eyes

Cheers Martin,

Never donated and thought it would be a good time for a donation and then finally noted the donate tab! Now done!

This is now ongoing with Facebook not respecting limits and knocking the site offline.

It takes quite a few attempts to find a gap between the "bots" to post or execute a command, but it does get there.... eventually.

One of the many reasons I have banned anything to do with Ars@Book for years now. WhatsApp excluded Rolling Eyes
