Is this what a faulty Steering Angle Sensor looks like?

I’m appealing to the experienced of those who’ve had a faulty steering angle sensor ring before. I’m getting faults reported that relate to invalid steering angle data. The Steering Angle Sensor itself reports no faults, and when I calibrate the sensor it’s fine, but when I turn the wheel I can see in the live data that the steering angle changes and then jumps up massively, ending up on -5700 degrees! I don’t think the car does 30 turns lock to lock!

I took a video of the sensor while turning the steering wheel, and there’s some fire/aft movement of the sensor ring, as well as the expected rotary movement.

If anyone would be so good as to look at the video linked, and give their opinion, I’d be very grateful.

Is this what a broken Steering Angle Sensor looks like?

Yep Thats broken Thumbs Up
I did mine last week and it was identical...throwing all the common faults.
Fixed with some sikaflex...
Used a 5ml syringe, filled with adhesive so you can get between the OUTER casing and the yellow tabs.
Dont get anything on the inner ring or you will block the sensor.
Good luck!

Thanks timmyt79! Good to get that validation. Let's hope I can fix it, as I have a habit of starting tasks then finding out that they are beyond my limited ability!
