Discovery 3 Park Brake Module obstruction
Hi guys, I'm in the process of fixing my parking brake module and I've done a lot of research on tackling it and it appears on my 2008 Disco 3 HSE that I have a metal plate attached to the chassis in the way stopping me from accessing the bracket for the EPB. I have attached a photo of the said plate and wondered if anyone has any advice going forward. It appears to be welded to the chassis and the only form of removing it would be to cut it and then re weld in to position.

I’ve been in that zone of pain many times over the years. From memory there is certainly no cutting out to be done (mine is a 2005). The brake module is attached by rubber grommets to a steel plate rising vertically behind all that rustwork in your photo. The plate is fixed by four bolts (13mm?), two on either side going down into the chassis.
I swear by (amongst other things) Bodsy’s Brake Bible.

Looking at these axle stands give me the Fear!
At least get some chocks under those wheels to stop them moving.

I have the same issue, just on with replacing all the rear discs and shoes on a Disco 4 HSE and after having a look it has exactly the same plate. I need to open the EPB as i had to use the pull cord to unlatch the handbrake when it stuck on.
Do the later D4's not have this plate then i wonder ?
