Low voltage issue STILL GRRRR
Hi all
Had a voltage issue for years now and just can’t get to the bottom of it!!!!!
So far have done new denso alternator, new battery (exide ea1000), disconnected the aux battery split charge and STILL coming to car having 12v every day not enough power to start the car barely
Been the garage and they have done amp clamp saying it’s not drawing anything hardly so can’t be a phantom drain. Have tried everything and then some. Even tried turning the auto lights off before turning the car off 😅
It holds charge if I disconnect overnight
I’m literally at the point where I think I need to start pulling plugs and wonder if anyone can advise what ones to pull first please?
Hopefully one by one I can rule out things and locate what’s draining it
I may be wrong but it appears to be draining within the first hour of shutting down
Would I be best putting a multimeter on the battery and timing how long it takes to go below 12.6v and then pull plugs each day over time to see when it stays at a good voltage reading?
Ita getting so frustrating now I’m so invested in the problem and determined to find it!

Do you have a volt meter? If you do measure across the fuses with the car locked, you will need to latch the door locks locked so you can have the doors open and then use your volt meter starting at the big fuses at the battery and see which one shows a mili volt reading. A fuse has resistance across it so you can see an active circuit by the small voltage difference across the fuse. Work you way back using a circuit diagram until you have the component narrowed down that’s staying awake/ on.

Hiya
I’ve just done the amp meter test and got 0.06 reading
Pulled all engine bay fuses and fl18 was the only one to make a difference

Does that mean it leads to be a fuse within the car in glove box?
Presuming so I have gone the back of the head unit and noticed old parrot Bluetooth wiring I forgot about years ago so I’ve removed the fuses but left the loom in for now
Also I unplugged f8 (trailer electrica)
Currently waiting for few hours to go and read the voltage again and see if it’s gone down or not

It would be nice if it was as simple as an old parrot system staying awake. Looking at a wiring diagram the battery junction box fuse 18 is a supply to the central junction box which then supplies amongst other things the audio head unit. As you say, see what the drain is with the parrot fuses removed and let us know.

Voltage after being sat 14 hours 12.5v
Key fob unlock voltage goes to 12.4v
Key in ignition but not cranked 11.93v
Does this seem normal or?
Its not enough voltage to start the FBH remote

A battery when fully charged is 12.8v, I would suggest disconnecting the battery and charging it for a minimum 24 hour period then leave it for a further 6 hours and then re measure the battery voltage. If it’s 12.8 then get it tested to make sure it’s got all of its 900 amps. If it does then it’s good, if it either fails to reach or maintain 12.8v when charged while disconnected or does not charge to 900 amps then replace it. If you do replace the battery repeat the above test on the new battery so you know you’ve not got one that’s been stored with low voltage.
