Whining/Whirring diagnosis |
|
Hi all, just back from a light laning trip in yorkshire and am looking for some advice. I've had a bit of a whine/whirr at higher speeds over the last few weeks but after putting some miles on it this weekend it's got louder so needs looking at.
•Most noticeable 50mph+ and annoying at 70mph
•Only happens under throttle and goes completely when lifting off
•At a specific light throttle positions at lower speeds there is now a rumble/grumble
It's had both front wheel bearings recently, when the bearing noise was removed this was there quietly in the background but it's got progressively louder.

Further to this I went out tonight and had a proper listen. It's noticeable around 20mph, can be felt through the car and is speed dependent in pitch and volume. You can make it come and go depending on throttle position when cruising.
If there's no general experience of it on here I'll start with the front diff oil and work back from there
edit: Car now for sale , didn't do any work to investigate as I bought a D4 Didn't get any worse but I don't think it was throttle position related in the end
