Disco 3 clutch fluid leak
Hi all,
2006 D3 LHD manual, with clutch fluid leak from clutch pipe just above the connection to the slave cylinder.
has anyone of you had this problem ?
Is a body off necessary to replace the hose that is connected to the clutch master cylinder ?

Hi Giacomo !
As I can see on the Internet, there is a connector between hose and slave cylinder (LR014290). This connector includes an "O ring" that could be faulty.
That doesn't solve the question for the access, I agree...

the leak is in the upper part of the hose near that barrel which I think should be a kind of vibration damper, and if I'm not mistaken the hose is a single piece from the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder.....

Yes, one piece fluid supply pipe with integral vibration damper fed from the brake fluid reservoir via CMC. Not a body off job but a real bad b d to get at it. How's your clutch? It is a lot easier if the gearbox is out.
Heat shields beneath heater pipes behind engine need removing and some plastic coverings. Then follow the pipe up to the CMC, the damper is clipped to the inside of the transmission tunnel.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

so do you recommend removing the vibration damper from the rigid tube and the rubber tube and replacing the 2" O rings " ?

Both pipes can be detached from the damper but getting at them remains your challenge.
If you can get down the back of the engine you might be able to undo the rigid pipe from the damper, but its a very tight space to get tools in there. Very tricky even for the smallest hands and tools, and will be made worse if the damper starts to twist as you attempt to undo the rigid pipe union.
As far as I know the replacement only comes as a complete unit including the rigid, damper, and flexi in one piece. If it were me I'd be biting the bullet and replacing the entire unit from the CMC to the SMC.
There's otherwise just too much faffing around for my liking.
But....you have nothing to lose by having a go if you have the time and inclination. Just make sure you have the entire new replacement pipe to hand. And, be absolutely certain you have completely sealed off the reservoir so that it can't drip fluid once you have opened the pipework. You will need a pneumatic bleeder at the very least, and and to that end be aware that getting all the air out can sometimes be very trying! Good luck yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I thank you for these technical and practical details,
I too am tempted to replace the entire unit but the problem still remains of how to pass it over the gearbox with that very limited space....
and how do I seal the clutch fluid reservoir, so that it can't drip fluid once the pipework is opened ?
shouldn't fluid only come out if the clutch pedal is pressed....?
