Epb broken wire

I’ve got a fault in the epb wiring on my disco 3. There are four wires that run from the nsr wheel arch to the park brake switch. One wire (yellow) has infinite resistance between the rear wheel arch connector and the switch by the drivers seat. I tried changing the switch.
Having read extensively on the forum, my understanding is that the wires run forward from the wheelarch and then go under the passenger seat?
Seat removal looks job looks ok, but will this reveal the wiring or will i need to lift the carpets too? (And has anyone done this. I’ve got an mot coming soon and its a certain failure without the epb working 😭

How about probing the wire inside on the passenger sill ( if that’s where it is) and that will tell you which side the break is. (It’s problem outside really?)

Hi Pete, i’m trying to find the routing of the wire to then pick it up half way. I read somewhere that once the passenger seat is out, the wiring might be accessible underneath. Just not sure how to get the carpet lifted, or maybe just the plastic sill covers by the passenger door would be enough. Was hoping someone who had done this might be able to advise how to attack it…otherwise with my ham-fisted approach I’m likely to break things🙄

Plastic sill just pops off with a trim tool, and you can see the wiring from there or try the plastic panel where the bonnet release is (although that may be too far up?). If you do break any clips getting the cover off I have plenty of spares if you are close to Foggie...

Did you definitely prove the wire is ok at the connectors at the back?

I don't think we've met but I certainly know a few of your neighbours Laughing You must know Graham the farrier at Cobblehouse Cabins (also with Disco) ? And Richard at North East Brakes ? (other side of the river).

I'm just by the river near Marnoch Cool

Hi Martin,
I’ve checked for continuity from the multi plug at the epb module and it’s showing good continuity from the epb module multi plug across to the osr connector, and also across the connector itself.
At the switch end, there is continuity from the switch connector to the grey multi plug (the one very close to the switch).
But the yellow wire from this grey plug, back to the osr wheel arch multi plug shows infinite resistance.
Hence, my theory is a broken yellow wire somewhere between the rubber boot in the nsr wheel arch (where the loom goes up into the body) and where it reappears at the brake switch.
My thinking is I will need to remove the carpets and maybe the passenger front seat.
Does that sound fair?

Update: today I removed the sill cover, passenger front seat and the rear interior trim panel. Traced the wiring loom and eventually found a tiny spot of corrosion on the yellow wire near where the loom runs past the rear passenger door. I cut out the corroded piece, re-soldered the wire together and put heat shrink on the joint. And voila, epb up and running again.
Was slightly concerned at how many previous repairs there are in the wiring loom, but at least the epb now works again - just in time for the mot this week.
Many thanks to all for helping me to understand this fault 🙂

It’s normal for there to be blue joints if that’s what you found ?

Hi Pete, yes blue insulating tape (double width), under which I found the bare wires crimped. It looked quite crude, surely it didn’t leave the factory like that?

yeap Rolling with laughter

And the joints aren't very reliable. At least you know what they look like now, when you need to find them.

Most common issue is the key fob not working. (green wire crimp at front)
