Been researching different diagnostic tools for our newly acquired D4. I see the IID seems to be the favourite but it's out of budget for now so just need something to tide us over.
I've seen the Autel AP200 mentioned and wondered if this will work to reset the BMS? Description says it should but we've read conflicting reports.
Our stop/start isn't working and while some may see that as a blessing we'd like to at least figure out why. Aux battery is reading 12.7v but a new main battery was fitted just before we bought the car and we've been advised the BMS may need resetting...
Thanks

What makes you say that? I have, although I’ve only had my D4 for a day so I haven’t had cause to use my AP200 yet. 2013 Orkney Grey D4 SDV6 HSE

I find the SS is an excellent battery condition tester, if the SS isn't working and you do not have a fault light on it is highly likely it is the main battery down on amps, not volts.
If SS doesn't work and you have a fault light on its the small SS battery that's down on amps.
You need amps to crank the engine as well as volts, if amps are slightly down on the main battery your SS will not give a fault or work. Try putting the main battery on charge overnight or buy a new AGM battery. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

It actually says the SS is unavailable, will this also lead to what you're saying?

On the dash the SS has a line through it and underneath if we press the button on the centre console it says unavailable.

It could be the small SS battery is not up to scratch(low amps), put it on charge over night with a smart charger. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

When i fitted a new battery i never re-set the BMS and it made no difference to the stop start operation.
Oddly when the stop start did fail the stop start battery showed good voltage but i changed it anyway and all worked well again.
May be worth a go.
We do now have an Autel AP200 and it does do the battery reset. I have no idea if different versions of the AP200 are out there but we bought ours in France, so maybe?

On second thoughts, it is not the small auxiliary battery putting the not available light on its you, when you press the SS button you are switching the SS off!
Put the main battery on charge overnight, if SS still does not work have the main battery drop tested for amp output or buy a new AGM main battery.
It is not essential to reset the BCM when fitting a new battery, it just takes a little longer to reset itself. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Ah yes, the unavailable does only come up when we press the button on the centre console.
Will try your suggestions and see how we get on, thanks for your help
