Fault, fault & more faults!! |
|
Well on Thursday my wife had lots of faults come up, DSC, Engine, gears, lights flashing bongs going off, left the car for half an hour & all was well!
Then this morning it all happened to me, stopped the car & restarted & all clear!
Do I have the start of something terminal?

I've had the same thing after first start on a cold day twice last week, cured after re-start.
I had made sure that the system had booted up prior to starting but still did it, even stopped the gearbox from changing!

Some of these faults may be cold weather/low voltage related issues.

May be as only started now it is cold, also both occasions it happened with in 400m of the house!
One other thing I have noticed is I always wait for the bong, BUT this dose not give the glow plugs long enough to heat up in the cold weather! D5 HSE Waitona Grey 2015

This all sounds very familiar. We had this happen a number of times last winter (as did others) but it never happened since then (and had nothing done to fix it). It definitely appeared to be an initial low voltage causing the computer system to "trip over" a few hundred yards after the first start on a cold morning. A quick restart and everything was fine. A cold battery combined with a number of electrical accessories on (such as heated screens, seats, headlights etc) seemed to be the trigger. There are a few anomalies though - like why would a restart fix a low voltage. If anything the voltage would be even lower on restart. Whatever it falls into the irritating rather than serious issue, but we would all be better off without it. Does anyone have a fix ? Disco 4 TDV6HSE

Mine used to do this, the last time it did was at 8500 miles. It went back to the dealer and they replaced a wiring loom, no problems since. I suspect it is the plug that 10fc has mentioned.

Mine's in at the minute for exactly the same problem.
Dealer has told me it is a symptom of rapid battery drain from cold start / high accessory load and an oversensitive diagnostic in many of the electrical ECU's so accounts for many errors.
Subsequent reeboot/restart's do not have the same drain as engine turned over & glowplugs warmed etc. Oh and they're designed to bong after 30-60 secs by all accounts, or so they have told me
HOWEVER They also found that my suspension & Terrain response controls are faullty. I'm (my car is) awaiting parts again, so whether this is a lucky find or the cause of my errors?? only time will tell.

Just came back from my 25K km service.
My dealer printed out all the errors (abt. 40 pages!) and will discuss with LandRover. I had a lokk at the printout.
It seems as if there is really a problem with the voltage under cold weather conditions. There might be faulty batteries around. But dealer wants this confirmed for each case from LR, otherwise dealer has to pay for the battery when he replaces.
Some of the processors are not booting up under low voltage, causing and error message to another systems (which is not booted) all this causing trouble on the bus.
NB: Great how serious my dealer takes me in the meantime. After I mentioned this board several times. Sure all the dealers ar ereading here aswell.

Doesn't sound too promising for over here but maybe it will be sorted by the time mine is built in Feb or so.
Where are you in Germany, macstech?
