Software updates

During a recent browse through the fault-codes of my wife's D4, it became apparent that it could do with some software updates. Is there any way to get this done without a visit to main dealer? 
2015 Volvo V40
2014 D4 HSE
2006 RRS - C'est mort. Fin...  ...It's alive!  Oh no, it's not - scrapped.
2019 Suzuki Kingquad 400
2017 RamRod Taskmaster 1150

Looking at the software version numbers, IIRC.

I believe my IID advises when a new version is available. Might be very wrong, but think I’ve seen it. Was too worried about causing an issue ( .......turning the car into a paperweight!) to do any updates, and I don’t have any issues that seem to be caused by software ( as far as I am aware). Gary

IID shows in ECU inventory whether there is a more recent firmware available. I don’t know if there are release notes somewheee (on SDD perhaps?) so it’s unclear what they fix.
