Also interested to know more about the CAN bus - as I recall from my reading around the forum in the past, the big drawback of switching to an Android display was losing 4x4 info (for what that's worth), so having it available and working on the current iterations of the Android displays is a big step forward. Parking sensors and doors on the screen are new functionality entirely, so double bonus!

Must admit I had (apparently incorrectly) assumed that 4x4 info was in some way tied to the MOST bus, since that's blanked off on the Android units. I've currently got the factory screen with the RRS mod, so although I'd lose access to the factory bluetooth and radio controls via the touchscreen, both of those are available on the radio itself so having Android with current-year maps and Carplay is a very attractive option, plus I've already got the reverse camera installed.

To be honest it’s a plug and play from the cable harness supplied by head unit..
it brings a special box with CAN interface and you just need to plug it. In my case, I wasn’t aware that I could choose in the screen a special mode to decode the info from the bus. After viewing a video from a user of this forum I’ve changed the settings and everything appear after a reboot…

You cant keep 4x4info or satnav when changing head units, only way to do that is by fitting one of the integration devices like naviplus.

That was always my understanding, but judging from the pictures on the first page of this thread is looks like aribeiro has got 4x4 info (or rather a 3rd party version of it) running on the Android screen, along with the other things mentioned.

Satnav not a big loss, rather out-of-date and no longer fit for purpose so having Carplay instead would be a big upgrade as far as I'm concerned. In fact I removed the DVD drive under the seat some time ago to make room for other electronic additions!

aribeiro - thanks for the explanation. Any chance you could link to the video?

My mistake, he didn't change the factory head unit just replaced the original screen with the Xonrich unit.
Thats a bonus that it still works, most conversions dont allow that option.

Here is a short video that I made to show the 4x4 info screen.
Note: my original satnav screen didn’t had the option to see this 4x4 screen Smile

I'm liking that.
Been playing with an android tablet for nav and dab via the aux input but obviously no can connection.

Just need to work out which one on Ali Express/Xonrich i\site t is that is wired into the can
