Brake bleeding
Hi,
I am thinking my brakes need bleeding, over the last 9 montgs I've had new discs and pads all round, fronts are now the V8 bigger ones. However, my brakes are awful so I'm thinking of flushing the brakes to try to solve it. I've looked at bleed kits and found a couple of cheap options and wondered which type would be better. Any other advice or recommendations appreciated.

I've always used the pressure type, mine is an old Gunsons 'Easy Bleed' but looks just like the one in your link.
When you say your brakes are awful, what are the symptoms? Soft pedal would indicate air in the system.Richard

I've always bled mine with a cheap and cheerful Gunson - however I do it with a helper to pump and hold the pedal as i open / close the bleed nipples.
Never had any problems on any of the cars / motorcycles I've done.
But .. have you checked the condition of all the brake hoses (the rubber can degrade) and the brake lines ( these can get almost imperceptible pin holes in) - any fluid loss?I see no ships........

Also wonder if the servo is failing / failed , along with many others got my servo replaced FOC at my local dealer
Indeed maybe it just needs the brake fluid changing , must confess did replace all my brake hoses at the same time
If I remember it’s dot 4 , class 6, make was ATE

My thinking is a brake flush wouldn't do any harm, I don't know if it's ever been done. I'll have a look at the back but the fronts were fine when I did the front arms. When I say they're rubbish , I mean I'm having to put more pressure on than I used to, also when I drive the wife's RRS the difference is night and day. The brakes do work, but they're just not very keen.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

I used this Laser kit and found it all very straitforward...
I made a video of me doing it on my D3.

Hi
fingers crossed that’s all it needs regarding the brake fluid , plus if I remember rightly I got a 1 x litre bottle to change all the fluid , think I paid around £18
forgot to mention I did also get some new calliper bleed nipples for each wheel as didn’t want to get caught out in case any were rounded off
Hope it’s a simple and not the servo etc

In the back of my mind I seem to remember that an IID tool is needed as some of the brake fluid is within the ABS system and the module needs to be told your changing the fluid – to purge the ABS

Kev, that does ring a bell, I do have an IID so that shouldn't be a problem if I do need to.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey
