Thanks for your replies. I think mine is probably a 2005 but the spec is what I want and the price seems good. I take reassurance from the comments that mostly d3's are okay. Also I guess that many of the problems e.g. with suspension compressors have become a little familiar and can therefore (at least in theory) be fixed relatively easily.
Anyhow it's too late to change now and so I'm now going to stop searching for problems and look forward to the arrival of my new d3. Thanks, everyone Zambezi Silver SE / Ebony Leather

Bought mine for the wife and kids, I use an old Beemer, but I love it so much that I am always insisting that I drive it.
Almost tempted to buy another one just for me
