Hi Mastertech and popsdosh
Ford F150 crank - I 'GUESS' it is the same. Why one earth would Ford have 2 cranks in production for the same engine. The drive is the same for the oil pump - I have a Ford F150 oil pump bought from Ford America as a 'Ford F150 part'. The drive for the pump is identical. In fact when you open the Ford branded box you get a pump with 'Jaguar Land Rover' cast into it.
As to the Ford F150 engine having 'bigger bearings' - It does not. I have samples of every size big end and journal bearings from Ford USA for a Ford F150 3.0 TDV6 - they fit into a 2.7 (if you machine the anti-rotation groove for the main bearings). And the Ford F150 workshop manual gives the tolerance for the Journal diameters & Block/rod bores. These match the sizes in the Ford 2.7 liter TDV6 build instruction I have from ~ 2003/2004.
Hope this helps,
Adrian
I suppose we should clarify which engine we are talking about to be clear . Ford had issues with broken cranks in their V6 engines and for a period stopped using it. Hence the reason the newer versions of the powerstroke have redisigned crank and bearings. I was told by a friend in the states that the new crank will not fit in the old block. As I asked the question when my crank went. I guess if it fitted JLR would have been bringing them over for theyre rebuilt engines.

Hi Adrian
I would like to give you all the info you need.
But right now I dont have the right tools.
I dont have a big enough micrometer to measure the caps ->I can tell you that it is an interference fit, I have to "massage" then in with a plastic hammer.
I although havnt got a god enough bore micrometer, the one I have has 0.01 tolerance.
Until now I have not found one for a reasonable price.
Looking at the possibility to get the block measured at a machine shop.
Have although found someone that imports reconditioned engines from Germany for a more reasonable price.
I have more time now in the easter holliday periode, så I will sett up a cost prognosis for all the different options.
It will cost a lot of money either way
Thank you for all your help so far and wish You a good easter holiday.
Regards
Sebastian

Hi popsdosh
Have you any ide when this change should have happened?
When I look at the online F150 parts list they are identically from 2018-2021.
But since there is almost no detailed information available about the Powerstroke engine, its difficult to conclude yes or no.
I will try to get pictures/info from some suppliers in the US that have this crankshaft in stock.
Have a nice easter holiday

Hi everybody
A short update after a long time.
Work has been crazy and after 50 hour weeks there is not much "steam" left to doing the rebuild.
- Block was measured and then line honed and the bores where honed ->all in specs
- Disasembled the heads, cleaned everything, laped all the valves, installed new valvestem seals and reassembled everything
- Changed the CHRA in both turbos, could se a lot of oil on the exhaustside
- ordered new parts from the UK and US -> some of it took a really long time
- cleaned all the parts
- ....
Now I have started to reassemble the engine.
- all bearings are measured and then check with plastigauge when torqued to right specs
- weight all the conrod and pistons and combined them in the best possible way to get an even assembled weight
- changed all the piston rings ->my pistons ha the EU6 piston rings ->the engine is an late EU5
- assembled the bottom end with new bolts
- Cleaned the injector holes with an 15mm counterbore that I had lying around
- assembled the camshafts with new chain/tensioners
- 3D-printed some tools to install the crankshaft/camshaft seal in the right depth ->1mm underflush
The next days I will try to finish the basic engine
Pictures are coming soon

Hi Guys
Sorry for very little update for a long time.
I have been extremely busy with my daily work this summer.
Status right now is that every thing is ready for the engine to go into the car again.
The extreme weather in Norway prevented that the last couple of weeks.
- the engine is completely assembled
- engine bay is derusted, painted with rustprevention paint og finished with a underbody protection product
- change the upper front suspensions arms ->very easy access when the engine is out
- made lifting brackets out of flat/L-iron to lift the engine without bending the stock brackets
...they are such a bad design, bending when you look really hard at them
- exchanged the fuel- and AC cooler, both where rotten/fell apart
Here some prictures of the engine rebuild, more are coming soon.
Regards
Sebastian

great Job.
just a question, you went for the old crank?
Most likely i will have to go through a rebuilt, but the main issue i'm finding now is to find an original crankshaft. i've spoken to several shops and won't rebuilt unless i can find the original part.
apparently there is none left on the market. (sorry, talking about a 2.7 here)
thank you and well done once again

Hi spartaco02
I went for a new crankshaft.
Its bouth extreme pricy and it took about 2 month to get it.
I although consider an refurbished engine.
Parts have becone very pricy and some parts are very hard to get.
And then there are all the parts you find in bad shape when you disasemble the engine.
If i could have gotten an refurbished engine for a decent price, I would have gone trought the trouble to doit myselv.

Here an update on the rebuild
The engine is in the car and I did the first drive today.
The engine is much smoother then before and extremely quiet.
The Allisport Intercooler, AC cooler and Fuel cooler needed some "engineering" to get to "packaged" right.
But not everything is done.
On Friday i'am going to a rental garage to lift the body.
There a some screws/nuts on the crossover pipe, the top bolts for the transmission and some of the heatshield bolts that are not accessible with out.
Will do some rust prevention/fixes at the same time.
Regards
Sebastian

lack of parts is the issue. i have spoken to few engine refurbishing shop (not the workshop) and all told me that the issue is to find an OEM cranks for the 2.7, at least in italy. so in short terms the answer is open the engine, check the status and decide what to do afteward.
thnak to you all hard work at least we know that the ford 3.0l V6 bearing works on the 2.7 too.
if anyone is aware where to find an OEM crank for the 2.7 or has experience with some reliable aftermarket brand please shout.
cheers and once agian, amazing job!

Hi Guys
A little update after being driving for around 3000km now.
- first oil change after around 500km ->some silicone in the filter nothing else
- checked the oil filter several times ->totally clean, very happy
General observations:
- the fuel consuption shown is variing much more then before on startup and shorter trips
on my long trips with variable speeds I routinely reach numbers between 8.5/9 L/100km
So very happy with that
- Engine is much more responsive than before ->rebuilding both Turbos was the right choice
- There is a minute oil leak somewhere that i cant find
I think it could be the corners where the Valve Cover gasket meets the camshaft caps -> i didnt put
silicone there ->plans to fix this when i take off the body in the spring to clean up the frame und
underside of the body
- Sometimes rougher start up when its cold outside now ->checking the glow plugs this weekend
- The new wheels with 255/60R20 Goodyear All-Terrain Adventurer tires work well
